PokerStars versus 888poker is not one worldwide contest between two interchangeable accounts. Product names, operators and participation rules depend on location. Begin with the local agreement, then compare the tournament or cash format you intend to play. Brand familiarity cannot supply missing terms.
Identify the current regional product
PokerStars announced a UK move to PokerStars on Betfair in August 2026 and described its North American FanDuel relationship earlier that year. The UK update and North American update matter more to a local account than an old international Stars Rewards figure.
888 also publishes separate agreements. The Ontario agreement is for its Ontario service, not a universal Canadian or US offer. Do not carry a promotion or participation rule from one regional site to another. Record the domain and operator before comparing payment or reward conditions.
Build a tournament shortlist
Choose a maximum total entry cost and the hours you can play. In each eligible lobby, record the fee portion, starting time, blind structure, late-registration period and re-entry limit of a specific event. A large advertised guarantee does not reveal how many entries you can afford or whether you can finish the tournament.
For example, two hypothetical events could both charge 11 per entry, split as 10 to the prize pool and 1 in fees. Three entries cost 33, including 3 in fees, regardless of which brand offers the event. The comparison changes if structures or eligible rewards differ. These numbers are arithmetic examples, not current operator buy-ins.
Assess the client without inventing opponent quality
Use the supported local client to inspect table readability, bet-entry controls and the format you need. Check current security rules before opening third-party software. This review does not infer that 888 tables are anonymous, that one site’s opponents are weaker or that either brand has a fixed daily player total.
For cash play, use 888’s published fee schedule only where it applies to your product. Compare the same stake, table size and cap conditions with the applicable PokerStars schedule. A percentage without its cap is incomplete.

For a hypothetical $20 raked pot in that 5+ scenario, the table deductions are $0.90 and $1. At $100 they reach $2 and $4. PokerStars defines player count as those dealt into the hand and charges no rake before the flop; 888’s page labels its columns 2 and 3+ players. Both describe true-percentage, round-half-to-even collection. Use the applicable row and rules for the actual hand; a pot charge is not every player’s attributed cost.
The international PokerStars tools policy generally permits simple static unopened-pot charts and prohibits advanced GTO, ICM and equity tools whenever its client is open. Apply the appropriate local rules to each client before using third-party software.
