Software |
|
|
|
| This is really strange but no
single piece of poker aide software actually fills the
bill. In fact to get all the features I would like in one
would require three different HUDs running at once. (If I can
find a good programmer maybe one day, I can get the one I
want.) At one time or another almost any of these programs
could pay for itself. So, you can go with one you are most
comfortable with. Most have download versions that give
you a good idea of how the work, but often they are crippled and
you can't use all of the functions. If you can only afford
one, Hold'em Inspector should probably be your first. It
has utility as a Hand tracker, HUD, and Hand Simulator. It
isn't the best of any, but I would rank it (3,3,2)
respectively. None of the others are close to having that
much utility. |

Texas Calculated
|
(N,1,N) Texas
Calculat'em is one of the most versatile online poker HUD, (Heads Up
Display) today. It works smoothly with more sites than any
other HUD. The window is small and fits easily under your
poker client window. The graphical depiction of the table
makes it easy to relate to the game without trying to interpret a
list of players. Sklansky is the basis for their suggestions
and the use of opponent hand prediction makes this a great online
poker aide. Although there are some HUD's out there that have
more capabilities, they are usually site specific and don't support
the large number of sites supported by Calculat'em. I use it.

Hold'em Inspector |
(3,3,2) Hold'em Inspector is one of the better HUD's available
but supports only a limited number of poker rooms. Its best
capability is the ability to design your own advisor profiles.
It also has a powerful hand simulator that allows you to run test
different profiles under different situations. It also
tracks the hand histories for later review. It interfaces with
Poker Tracker to present player historical stats. The hand
simulator alone makes this HUD useful to me.

Stud Inspector |
(Stud) Well
this is one of the few Stud HUD's available. So their rating
in just about everything should be an "A" They are
the best because they have no competition. Stud is much more
complicated than Hold'em and the short comings of this application
reflect that. I do love the out tracker and it is quite
worthwhile. I use it, (for the tracker.)

|
|
| Poker Tracker
|
(1,N,N) Poker
Tracker is probably the best know tracker application. It will
automatically import the hand histories from most popular online
poker rooms and compile them in a database where you can examine
trends in your play and those of your opponents. Very
versatile but has little utility as a "real time" helper
without additional "mining" software. One of the
primary claims of the competition is that they are "compatable"
with Poker Tracker.

|
|
|
| Poker Office |
(2,3,N) Poker Office tries to take the utility of Poker
Tracker one step further by incorporating real time up dates and
some utility as a HUD. It does calculate the pot odds
which is a great addition. I'm not sure why other HUDs
don't provide the pot odds also. As a testament to Poker
Tracker, PO lists one of its features is "full
compatibility with Poker Tracker." (It's almost as
good as a Xerox.)
