Poker Pot Odds and Call EV Calculator
Calculate the equity needed to break even on a call. Add your own equity estimate to see its expected value under the assumptions below.
Enter the pot and call
The pot before your call must already include the opponent's bet. Use one currency or chip unit throughout. This calculation excludes rake, future bets and ICM. It does not infer equity from cards or ranges.
Your result
- Break-even equity
- Final pot after your call
- Call EV versus folding
EV uses the same unit as your inputs. A positive figure is a mathematical expectation under these assumptions, not a guaranteed profit or a recommendation to gamble.
Worked example: 75 in the pot, 25 to call
The pot already contains 75 after the opponent's bet. Calling 25 makes the final pot 100, so you need 25 / 100 = 25% equity to break even. If your independently estimated equity is 30%, call EV is 0.30 × 100 − 25 = +5.
The formulas
Break-even equity (%) = amount to call / (pot before call + amount to call) × 100.
Call EV = equity / 100 × (pot before call + amount to call) − amount to call. Folding has an EV of zero for this decision; chips already committed are excluded from the comparison.
When this model applies
Use it for a single call with no further betting, such as a river decision or a call that closes an all-in pot. Future betting, side pots, rake and tournament payout effects can change the decision. A multiway pot also needs an equity estimate against every competing hand.
If your call is zero and the pot is positive, the required equity is zero. For a real-money decision, verify the pot, the rules and your equity assumptions before relying on any result.
